On the top we will build an office, and underneath will be the home of Neckbeard Laboratories, where any "tinker" activities will take place. This is a "residential" mezzanine usually used in loft apartments to gain some extra space. It's a little over 155 square feet in area. I also carefully chose the height to strike a good balance between both levels. Curtis, who is 6’ 4”, can easily clear both the office and the laboratory, but the workshop has 13’+ ceilings.
